Get Ready for Bed w/ Dream Water

Insomnia is a persistent disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep or both, despite the opportunity for adequate sleep. With insomnia, you usually awaken feeling sluggish, which takes a serious toll on your ability to function well during the day. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 25% of the U.S. population suffers from occasional sleeplessness while 10% of us experience chronic insomnia. Takes me back to the first six weeks of caring for a newborn!

Dream Water is a really cool (and tasty) product I discovered, recently, that helps address those sleepless nights in a healthy fashion. It’s a natural alternative to over the counter drugs or stepped-up prescriptions with lasting and often negative effects. I love that in a sea of energy drinks, this brand took an alternative approach. Ron Barhai, who runs Sales and Marketing for Dream Water, took a few minutes to give us a behind the brand tour…

Can you share the backstory of Dream Water and how the product came to be?

A college student lay in bed one night after being hyped all day on energy drinks and couldn’t get to sleep. His brain-wheel was spinning and he realized that there were no drinks on the market to help you get to sleep…just to stay awake. With that idea, the concept of Dream Water came to be.

How important was a natural formula and brand position to Dream Water’s success?

The innovators behind Dream Water wanted the product and brand to be one that can be enjoyed by everyone. Dream Water is gluten free, kosher, and 0-calorie, in addition to its natural elements. Most sleep-aids contain non-natural ingredients that can leave the consumer waking up groggy with a hangover-type feeling in the morning. In an effort to avoid this feeling, Dream Water took the natural approach to help consumers feel rested and refreshed when they wake. Dream Water is made with the SleepStat Natural Blend of GABA, Melatonin, and 5-HTP.

Dream Water initially launched in a larger size then repackaged to a shot sized serving. What has that transition meant for the brand?

When Dream Water originally hit the shelves it was an 8oz. drink. At that time, the shot market began to take off and the founders realized consumers are more interested in shot sized consumables. Additionally, the team realized that most consumers are not willing to drink 8oz before bed because of frequent nightly bathroom visits. Therefore, the brand repositioned itself into the shot market where it dominates the Sleep Aid shot channel.

I read a recent article where the author states that a hotel provided Dream Water to their guests- has Dream Water expanded into hospitality or popped up in other alternative channels?

Yes! Dream Water can be found in a variety of specialty channels, including hotels, airports, spas, gyms, and other alternative channels.

How often are people consuming Dream Water and are there additional products on the horizon?

Dream Water is currently found in over 30,000 doors nationwide and we are continuously expanding in the U.S. as well as abroad. We recently launched Dream Water Sleep Powder, a powder stick that can be taken with HOT water, COLD water, or WITHOUT water. Consumers are loving this “adult bedtime candy” as an easy-to-use and tasty sleep aid that helps them get the sleep they need and wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start the day.
